Eight Months of Joshua!

I must sound like a broken record when I say this but really- how in the world does time fly so fast when you have children? It seems like there is no way possible for Joshua to be eight months old, but alas once again I have blinked my eyes and eight months have passed. Joshua is the sweetest cuddly little guy I've ever seen! He continues to be laid back and goes with the flow (as much a baby can). He brings so much joy to our lives and we are so thankful for a happy, healthy child.

Here are some of the things Joshua is doing now as an eight month old:
-Sleeps through the night (hallelujah!)
-Eats most fruits and vegetables, recently started small pieces of meat including chicken, beef, and turkey, bread, cheese... You get the drift, he loves his food!
-Smiles and laughs at Quinn, Mommy, and Daddy
-Claps with excitement
-Sits on his own while playing with toys
-Would be the happiest baby on Earth if Mommy could hold him ALL day long, so instead he spends a lot of time in my Ergo carrier
-Takes two and sometimes three naps a day, each about an hour long
-Says dadadadadada, babababababa -Has two teeth on the bottom

We love our little man and can't wait to witness each new phase of his growth and development!

Mother's Day

What a blessing it is to have been entrusted with two special little people. My heart is so full and I really could not ask for more. Being a Mom is the biggest challenge but the most fulfilling job I've ever had, wouldn't trade it for anything!

We celebrated Mother's Day with Jaime's mom the weekend before since we had two birthdays the weekend of Mother's Day. Jaime and I also feel so blessed to have such wonderful mothers. We learned from the best, truly!

So on Mother's Day we went downtown and ate at Guerro's taco deli with our good friends Cassie, Scott, and their little dude, Easton. It was delicious and we all laughed at how much our lives have changed since having our kids. In the old days pre-children this may have been a relaxing lunch with margaritas and such but now-a-days its high chairs, sippy cups, spilt food, and a lot of trying to keep them entertained. But still just as fun! After lunch the Rice's took us to a candy shop nearby called the Big Top. Jaime and Quinn were in heaven. Quinn picked out a lollipop the size of her head and was in lovin it. Life is good!

Three of the four looking at the camera, not bad!

Run Jaime Run!

A few weekends ago Jaime had another 5k race. This time he was trying to reach a personal goal and get a 5:30 mile time, and he did!! He came in second overall and first in his age group. I can't even imagine running one mile at that pace much less 3+, but he did and I'm so proud of him for putting in all of the hard work and persevering. Of course on the day of the race while I was trying to pack myself and the kids to be at the track by 8:00 am I forgot my camera so these pictures are courtesy of my friend Cassie. Her husband was also running to achieve a personal goal and was successful too! These husbands of ours sure are some amazing athletes!
Little Miss Priss insisted on wearing this knit hat.  Pick your battles, right?
Two number one fans, Quinn and Easton!
Joshua was in heaven to just sit and watch all of the action.  Actually, he got his hands on a chocolate doughnut and was real sad when I realized it and took it away!
The big finish

Special Gift

Quinn didn't really know my parents were coming for her birthday party, well I guess she knew but didn't know exactly when they would be here. They flew in late Friday night so when she woke up Saturday they were here to surprise her. She was so shocked and immediately began running around showing then how tall she was in comparison to almost every item in our house. She really thinks she grew overnight now that she's three! It was such a nice treat to have them here and I only wish we could do it more often. We had a crazy day on Saturday trying to prepare for the party and having the party. So on Sunday we all just hung out here, relaxed, played, and had a little BBQ.

This was a birthday gift from Mama Rose and Papa James, she loves it!
My Mom was in heaven with these two!
We really need to get this little dude a hat, one that fits him and not his Daddy's
This guys loves him some food!
Look at those baby blues!
This was our ghetto set up outside.  The weather was so nice so we wanted to eat on our deck so we used out patio furniture and Quinn's little table.  It worked!

It's Party Time!

Quinn has really become so completely absorbed into princesses, especially Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Her fave movie at the moment is Beauty and the Beast so naturally she asked to have a Beauty and the Beast party. When we were deciding what we could do for the party I told her that I thought it would be fun to dress up like Belle for the party and her response was so funny, she said "No Mommy, I'm going to be the Beast!". She was so adamant about being the Beast so we looked and looked for a Beast costume her size and could not find one. I'm sure it was for the better since it ended up being pretty warm the day of her party, she would have roasted in a Beast costume!

Quinn got this fabulous Princess Barbie house from her Grandparents, she was ecstatic!
We had planned on giving this scooter to Quinn when she opened up her gifts but she found it in our office closet the day of the party.  "My very own scooter!!".  So we let her play with it before and during the party.
Mama Rose and Joshua.  What a trooper he was!  He was so chill and even took a nap in his room amidst the party chaos!
My parents came to town for the big bash!
The closest we could get to a good picture of the two of us!
Look at this pinata!
Quinn was so excited to have her friends join us to party complete with princess attire too!
This little dude was a pirate!
Love the face on this one!
Gift time!
We had such a great time and were so lucky to have so many friends and family join us! Quinn asked us if it was still her birthday a few days after the party. She was in heaven!!

I'm Free (three)!!

Quinn is was SO excited on the morning of her third birthday! We did a birthday countdown so that she would know exactly when the day arrived, and boy did she! She turned three on April 20 which was the day before her party and the day my parents arrived so we really didn't get to do much celebrating as we were getting last minute details taken care of. When Quinn woke up we headed to the neighborhood doughnut shop in our jammies and had a nice sugary breakfast to get the day started. Here are a few pics:

Can you tell how much this girl loves her doughnuts??
Next year you can enjoy one too buddy!
The cutest part of the day was when Quinn woke up from her nap and asked if she was still three. When I told her she is going to be three for a really long time, a year, she jumped up and down and screamed "yay!!".
